For the second successive season, Alpine heads into the Formula 1 summer break reeling from a bombshell announcement.

This time it’s as a result of a slightly earlier, in-house decision to part ways with team principal Otmar Szafnauer and long-time sporting director Alan Permane on the same weekend it lost veteran F1 engineer Pat Fry to Williams.

Scott Mitchell-Malm and Josh Suttill join Edd Straw on the latest episode of The Race F1 Podcast to dissect Alpine’s decision, including what it says about the Alpine ‘project’ in F1 and where the team goes from here.

There’s also a discussion about what Fry’s signing means for Williams as well as the panel’s thoughts on four-time F1 champion Alain Prost’s “distressed” reaction to the team’s strife.

And as ever, we answer plenty of questions from The Race Members’ Club.
