Celebrate F1's 75th anniversary with unique memorabilia raced by legends

3 min read

To celebrate Formula 1's 75th anniversary, get your hands on some iconic F1 memorabilia in Graham Budd's 75 Years of Formula 1: The Ultimate British GP Live Auction.

The auction takes place at 4.30pm on July 3 in the Briefing Room at Escapade Silverstone, and features more than 160 items - from race-worn clothing to genuine car parts raced by F1 royalty.

Here’s our pick of five key items you could bid for.

Red Bull RB5 rear wing assembly

The RB5 holds a special place in Red Bull's F1 history, as it was the team's first grand prix winner.

And part of that impressive package is up for auction: this complete, race-used rear wing assembly features a biplane rear wing complete with the iconic Red Bull logo, the two rear wing endplates and a beam wing.

Turbo inlet from Ayrton Senna's first Honda winner

Honda played a crucial part in Ayrton Senna's F1 success, but it's often forgotten that his first two Honda-powered wins - turbocharged, no less - came in his final season at Lotus, before his ultra-successful spell at McLaren.

Carefully preserved and mounted for display, this lot features the original turbo inlet from Senna's Lotus 99T - and is comes complete with a commemorative plaque on the base.

Damon Hill's race suit from the 1996 British GP

Damon Hill fans: assemble.

Sure, the British GP doesn't make the cut for standout moments from Hill's 1996 (Hill took pole but dropped to third at the start, then spun into retirement at Copse with a wheelnut issue), but this race-worn suit from Silverstone is a rare find - and offers the chance to own a genuine part of his championship-winning campaign.

Signed gloves from Lewis Hamilton's first F1 championship

After the title slipped agonisingly from his grasp in his rookie season a year earlier, Lewis Hamilton became an F1 world champion at the second attempt in 2008 in dramatic circumstances.

These personally signed, race-used gloves from that season are professionally mounted and framed along with a signed photo and plaque descriptions.

Signed visor from Max Verstappen's first F1 win

In Max Verstappen's long line of F1 wins (the count currently stands at 65), his first is still among the most memorable.

So how about getting your hands on a piece of that history? This genuine race-worn visor has been signed by Verstappen, and comes complete with authentic marks of wear and tear from that famous afternoon at Barcelona, where the Red Bull driver held off Kimi Raikkonen to join the winners' circle at the tender age of 18.
