IndyCar Podcast: Can anyone stop Palou now?

1 min read

A thrilling new street course venue in Detroit and a dominant win by runaway points leader Alex Palou give the hosts plenty to discuss on this week’s The Race IndyCar Podcast.

Indianapolis 500 regular and 2009 Indy Lights champion JR Hildebrand gives his suggestions for how he would alter the new track, which produced a good race but is extremely short, not to mention narrow, and with plenty of surface changes.

Hildebrand and co-host Jack Benyon discuss how the track allowed IndyCar to display its true rawness with onboards showing drivers having to tame their cars with opposite lock exactly what motorsport should look like for fans.

Whether anyone can halt Palou’s title charge is discussed, as are tough weekends for Romain Grosjean and Pato O’Ward – who are both trailing Palou at the moment for differing reasons.

Ace rookie Agustin Canapino’s season to date is reviewed, after what was perhaps his best IndyCar performance so far even if it wasn’t his top finish.

And there’s also a look ahead to the upcoming Road America race, and who will be the leading candidates for victory on the resurfaced track.

Don’t forget, if you have a question for our hosting team, you can email text and/or voice notes to be included on the podcast by sending them to podcasts@the-race.com.
