IndyCar podcast: Are Palou’s rivals clutching at straws?

A third Alex Palou win in four races, the not-unfamiliar sight of a win slipping away for Colton Herta, and shenanigans with a sewage truck make for plenty to discuss on this episode of The Race IndyCar Podcast after Road America.

Hosting duo Jack Benyon and JR Hildebrand assess Palou’s rivals’ claims that not much has gone wrong for the 2021 champion and that he’s certainly still catchable, while Benyon takes a look at the distraction Palou’s success maybe causing when it comes to Chip Ganassi’s driver market movements.

Herta’s tragic last stint is also discussed – Benyon asks if this is a time to celebrate Herta’s return to form and his performance rather than focus un how and why the win slipped away – and Hildebrand talks about why IndyCar needs 1000bhp, with a resurfaced Road America a supporting argument for that.

Finally, Will Power’s double-bird flip and shoving of Scott Dixon is covered; while it amused the co-hosts, Benyon asks what kind of example it sets to younger racers.

Don’t forget, if you have a question for our hosting team, you can email, text and/or submit voicenotes to be included on the podcast by sending them to podcasts@the-race.com.
