The upcoming decision on Formula 1’s tyre supply and the impact it could have on the racing is the focus of the latest edition of The Race F1 Podcast.

Bridgestone’s interest in the deal in opposition to long-term supplier Pirelli also raises the tantalising prospect that F1 could one day return to being a tyre-war formula.

Glenn Freeman and Scott Mitchell-Malm join Edd Straw to discuss the short- and long-term implications of what is a key decision for F1 and ask whether it would really be possible in the future to allow tyre competition in a cost-capped, limited-testing category.

The reasons why it’s so difficult to fine-tune F1 rubber to produce the characteristics desired are delved into, as are the potential benefits and disadvantages of F1 considering allowing tyre competition in the future.
