Fernando Alonso recently admitted to The Race that the low-key endings to Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen’s Formula 1 careers played on his mind when he committed to an F1 comeback with Alpine last year.
“We all had the feeling that they were not the same as before,” he said of his mid-2000s title rivals. “And I didn’t want that in my comeback.”
