Ford’s return to Formula 1 for the first time since 2004 with Red Bull is explained in the latest edition of The Race F1 Podcast.

The announcement coincided with Red Bull’s unveiling of what purported to be its 2023 F1 car, the RB19.

So as well as explaining what the Ford deal means for F1 and how it will work, Scott Mitchell-Malm, Mark Hughes and Edd Straw discuss everything that was wrong with Red Bull’s New York launch event and how it could have been handled better.

The Ford partnership won’t officially kick off until the new power unit regulations kick in in 2026, but with work underway at Red Bull Powertrains this is a project that is already up and running.

We also explain the impact of Red Bull’s Ford tie-up on Honda and Porsche’s F1 futures.
