Hadjar to miss third straight F1 race

Red Bull Formula 1 driver Isack Hadjar will be sidelined for a third consecutive grand prix, missing the first-ever F1 race at the new Madring venue.

Racing Bulls regular Liam Lawson deputised for his former team-mate Hadjar in the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, following the wrist fracture sustained by Hadjar during the summer break.

And Lawson will again be in the RB22 in the Spanish GP at the new Madrid street circuit, on the heels of a seventh-place finish at Zandvoort and a grid penalty- and wing damage-influenced 14th at Monza.

"The decision has been taken as Isack's recovery continues to progress positively," Red Bull said. "While he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid supporting the team."

Red Bull added that it looked forward to having Hadjar in the RB22 "very soon".

Lawson claimed at Monza that he was "trying to prepare for both cars" for Madring - "they're just so different to drive so it's not ideal" - but can now officially focus all of his attention on the Red Bull.

Yuki Tsunoda will continue to deputise for Lawson at Racing Bulls.
