Canadian Grand Prix 2025 F1 grid after two penalties

1 min read

George Russell took pole position ahead of Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri for the 2025 Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Two penalties affecting drivers from Red Bull teams shake up the order further back.

Yuki Tsunoda was awarded a 10-place penalty during qualifying when the stewards ruled on their investigation into his pass on Piastri's limping McLaren following the practice three red flag.

Tsunoda had only qualified 11th so that punishment dropped him right to the back - and left him furious.

He'd been knocked out of a Q3 spot by Racing Bulls' Isack Hadjar, but Hadjar was also under investigation for impeding an enraged Carlos Sainz (who was consequently eliminated in Q1) and later received a three-place penalty of his own for that. Hadjar drops from ninth to 12th.
