Marc Marquez continued his run of strong form in the 2025 MotoGP season as he topped FP1 for this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
The factory Ducati rider was the only one to set a sub-1m59 time in the 45-minute session, with a 1m58.702s as his quickest lap.
VR46 rider Franco Morbidelli went second fastest in the final moments of the session, 0.36s behind the Spaniard, with Alex Marquez in third for Gresini.
French GP winner Johann Zarco led the way early on with a 2m02.009s, before Marco Bezzecchi was the first to break the 2-minute mark on his factory Aprilia.
Marc Marquez went quickest on his third lap, with a 1m59.810s, and though he was briefly deposed by Bezzecchi, the Ducati rider led again from the 10-minute mark until the end of the session.
He improved to a 1m58.702s around the halfway mark, which remained the quickest time, but encountered an issue at the end of practice, which left him unable to take part in the practice start session.
Morbidelli avoided a yellow flag, prompted by a crash from Trackhouse Racing’s Ai Ogura sliding off at the Farm Curve, to split the Marquez brothers with a 1m59.067s.

Factory Ducati rider Pecco Bagnaia, who sits third in the championship, had a sideways moment at Turn 16 early on, and went on to finish the session in eighth, 0.8s adrift of team-mate Marquez.
Alex Marquez continued his strong form in third, having finished second behind his brother in every sprint race so far this season.
Bezzecchi was fourth amid the ongoing furore around team-mate Jorge Martin’s future with the Noale-based team, while Pramac’s Jack Miller was fifth.
Maverick Vinales was sixth for KTM Tech3, ahead of factory Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo, who sat out the first 10 minutes of the session after a penalty for disobeying the marshals at his home race.
