MotoGP duo Alex Marquez and Jack Miller have both received three-place grid penalties for the Hungarian Grand Prix at Balaton Park following an incident in Friday practice.
Marquez and Miller were both adjudged to have impeded their rivals at Turn 3 during the crucial late-session push for laptimes to secure a spot in Q2 - which Gresini Ducati rider Marquez did and Pramac Yamaha rider Miller did not.
Miller was pinged for impeding Pecco Bagnaia, while Marquez picked up the penalty for getting in the way of both Miller and Bagnaia.

But the situation had actually been triggered by Marquez's run-in with Di Giannantonio at the end of the previous lap, as Marquez tried to overtake his Ducati peer but instead had his lap ruined, seemingly as Di Giannantonio chose to speed up in preparation for his own push lap.

"I was coming in a flying lap, I found Diggia stopped in the middle, preparing his lap," recalled Marquez.
"I understand he'd be sort of ticked off at Diggia," explained Miller, who was watching it unfold from further back. "I saw him into the last chicane, I think, and he had to pull up stumps pretty clear.
"He sort of half-went for a pass and then realised that Diggia was going in there full pace and it isn't going to work - so then the rear tyre was off the ground. It messed his lap up, 100 percent. And then I understand he was frustrated."
Marquez then got caught out by Di Giannantonio's slipstream into Turn 1, so had another lap go to waste - and was seen on the broadcast gesticulating in the distance, which then caused him to get in Miller's way.

"[He] kind of started waving his arms about and whatnot, but forgot where he was a little bit," Miller said. "Unfortunately it was in the middle of the track, I couldn't do nothing about it."
Marquez's view of the events was slightly different. "He [Miller] was in my slipstream, I cut on the inside, he was starting to complain at me but he forgot that Pecco and other riders were coming. I was quite out of line, he was a little bit more on the line."
Bagnaia, who came up on the scene and had to abort his own lap, described the situation as "a bit strange" and "a bit on the limit" - and ultimately both Marquez and Miller were found culpable.
For both, this is the first offence this season of that kind, so carries a three-place grid drop.
