KTM's Pedro Acosta was the fastest rider in the final day of in-season MotoGP testing of the current campaign, taking place at Misano the day after the San Marino Grand Prix.
Acosta's 1m30.374s, set early on in the second of the day's two sessions, was a marginal improvement on his and KTM's best laptime from the weekend - and so good enough to top the test comfortably.
"For sure the others were more tired than me because yesterday I didn't make any laps," joked Acosta - referencing his early exit from the grand prix due to the chain coming off, something that KTM made modifications to safeguard against in the test.
Alex Marquez (Gresini Ducati), Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Aprilia) and Franco Morbidelli (VR46 Ducati) made up the rest of the top five on the day, all three tenths of a second back from Acosta.
'Great step' and a crash for Martin
Bezzecchi sampled a different Aprilia chassis, while his team-mate Jorge Martin - ninth-fastest - felt he'd made "a great step in terms of performance", which he attributed in big part to lifting up the handlebars on his RS-GP.
Martin ended the test crashing at Turn 8, however, and there were also falls for Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).
V4 Yamaha divides opinion
Whether Quartararo crashed on the V4 or not is not entirely clear, but he had admitted earlier in the day he was left wanting by the prototype's performance here.
Quartararo felt it was for now just a slight downgrade on the regular inline-four bike with no standout positives, though Yamaha stablemate Jack Miller disagreed.
"I believe there are more strengths and weaknesses, as the first version - this will not be the bike that we have in Valencia [for the post-season test], in terms of chassis and so on and so forth," Miller said.
"In terms of a rough cut, we're in the ballpark.”
Marquez's mind on 2026
Championship leader Marc Marquez was sixth-fastest, back-to-backing aero specs he's run this season and trialling different swingarms.
He described it as "a test for the Valencia test", aimed at helping Ducati bring the most optimal 2026 prototype.
Absentees
Honda rider Joan Mir and Trackhouse Aprilia rider Ai Ogura were both absent from the test, opting instead to rest and recover after sustaining injuries during the race weekend.
Mir hurt his neck in a crash on Friday and was banged up further in opening-lap crash in the grand prix, while Ogura - who had a fast get-off on Sunday - was diagnosed with bone bruising on his right hand, as well as inflammation to all five fingers and the wrist and "widespread swelling" in the left heel.
