Alex Marquez ended his brother’s unbeaten run in MotoGP’s sprint races at Silverstone, taking his first Saturday win of 2025.
The Gresini rider took advantage of a mistake from his older brother at Village on the second lap to take the lead, and from there led for the remainder of the 10 laps.
Alex’s win cuts Marc’s lead in the standings to 19 points, with Pecco Bagnaia in third 37 points shy of the younger Marquez brother.
Marc - off the front row for the first time in 2025 - was straight up into third at the first corner at Bagnaia's expense, then soon worked his way past his brother for second.
He then made it past poleman Fabio Quartararo at Stowe after a quick run down the Hangar Straight, and was followed through by his brother to demote Quartararo to third.
But just as he looked in control of the race, Marc then ran wide at Village and had to slot into second as he rejoined.
He had crashed at that corner already on Friday. "I saw that I was going in too fast and I decided to open the door," Marc explained of the error.
He shadowed his brother for much of the remaining distance, but never looked particularly close to finding a way past, ultimately giving up and finishing as far back as 3.511s down.

Bagnaia - fighting off some early pressure from Fermin Aldeguer - soon worked his way past Quartararo, too, but would not get the comfortable podium he would've hoped for.
A fast Fabio Di Giannantonio emerged as a threat - though first the VR46 rider had to deal with Quartararo, with the pair embroiled in a fantastic battle.
They traded places several times, Quartararo closing the door at Brooklands before Di Giannantonio finally snuck through at Stowe.
Di Giannantonio made it past Bagnaia on lap seven at Abbey, and then fought off a counter-attack to make the place his for good at Farm.
Another stellar fight was unfolding behind them, with Johann Zarco, Marco Bezzecchi, Jack Miller and Aldeguer - who had lost positions to an error of his own at Village moments after Marc Marquez - all involved.
Aprilia rider Bezzecchi had been as low as 19th on the opening lap, but had remarkable place. He won the aforementioned battle, reeled in and dealt with Quartararo, then also passed Bagnaia at Brooklands - before Zarco made it past both Quartararo and Bagnaia on the final lap for fifth.
Quartararo finished in seventh for Yamaha, with Acosta eighth on the factory KTM. Miller was ninth, with factory Honda rider Luca Marini rounding out the top 10 as the first of the non-scorers.
Brad Binder was the only rider not to finish the race, crashing out on the second lap.
