Formula 1 race winner Charles Leclerc is one of the seven drivers who will race for Ferrari in the SRO E-Sport GT Series.

Leclerc has joined as a wildcard entry for the first race in the championship, which takes place on Sunday with a one hour race around Silverstone.

Leclerc will be racing against other real-world drivers in the ‘Pro Series’ championship, including 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button.

In the ‘Silver Series’ which features exclusively invited sim racers, Ferrari will have four drivers in the 488 GT3 including their two F1 Esports drivers Enzo Bonito and reigning F1 Esports champion David Tonizza.

The championship is run on Assetto Corsa Competizione, the official GT World Challenge sim.

Leclerc’s involvement in sim racing has grown a lot recently, having won the latest Veloce Versus event on the F1 2019 game where he beat fellow F1 driver Nicholas Latifi in the final.

He also won the driver set up Race For The World championship which raised over $70,000 for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
