Reigning two-time Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen will skip media duties on the Thursday of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after he had to delay his flight to Jeddah because of a “stomach bug”.

Verstappen had to postpone his flight to the second round of the season due to the illness and won’t appear at the track until Friday, when he will arrive in time for the opening two practice sessions.

He says he’s now recovered but will miss his scheduled media activities on Thursday.

“Feeling fine again, after not being fit for a few days because of a stomach bug,” Verstappen said on Twitter.

“Therefore, I unfortunately had to postpone my flight for a day, so I won’t be on the track until Friday. See you in Jeddah!”

His Red Bull team swiftly replied to Verstappen’s tweet.

“Max has been suffering from a stomach illness over the past few days and, with the agreement of the FIA, will not be present at the track today. Feel better, Max,” the tweet said.
