The Miami Grand Prix has secured a 10-year extension to its Formula 1 deal, giving it the longest deal of any event on the calendar.

The event was already on an initial 10-year deal that started with its inaugural race in 2022.

Now a further 10-year contract on top of that has been announced at the start of the 2025 event, keeping the Miami GP on the schedule right through to 2041.

It means Miami's place on the F1 calendar is now guaranteed for longer than any other circuit, as its new deal takes it past Melbourne's Australian GP contract that runs to 2037.

F1 chief Stefano Domenicali called it "a sign of trust" to have the long term deal and said it is "confirming that Miami will  be part of our bigger strategy to be even stronger in the United States of America".

"First of all, it's great to announce that, because, as always, in this moment of an incredible period of growth of Formula 1, we want to make sure that we stay tuned and work together with the best partners that we have," Domenicali added.

"We have shared a lot of thinking together to make sure that this event will be, as it has been, incredibly successful, but also could be one of the most important pillars for our growth in this country, that, as you know, is representing the place where we do believe we can do a lot of things together.

"So I take the opportunity to thank you, Tom for for the trust in us, because you will not be unhappy for that."

The event's managing partner Tom Garfinkel added: "From our standpoint it enables us to say that this event is here to stay for a very long time, it enables us to build on intiatives that we've stgarter in the community like the stem program for example and continue to build on things.

"It enables us to continue to invest in the event. We take our responsibilty of helping to grow the sport of Formula 1 in the United states pretty seriously and I think what this says is we can use this now to help to do that"
