Ferrari has brought an end to recent speculation about Formula 1 team boss Fred Vasseur's future by extending his contract.
Vasseur joined Ferrari at the start of 2023 as it tried to make changes to push it back towards world title success.
But after a challenging start to this season, he found himself at the centre of the rumour mill at the Canadian Grand Prix last month when several reports in the Italian media suggested that his position was under threat. His initial deal ran until the end of this year.
Ferrari has now proven its commitment by signing Vasseur to a multi-year contract extension - the length of which has not been revealed.
A statement from Ferrari said: "Renewing Fred's contract reflects Ferrari's determination to build on the foundations laid so far. His ability to lead under pressure, embrace innovation, and pursue performance aligns fully with Ferrari's values and long-term ambitions.
"Under Fred's leadership, Scuderia Ferrari is united, focused, and committed to continuous improvement. The trust placed in him reflects the team's confidence in its strategic direction and reinforces a shared determination to deliver the results that Ferrari's fans, drivers, and team members expect and deserve."
While Ferrari's senior management team of chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vigna had not publicly responded beforehand to the recent rumours, their stance is now clear.
Vigna said: "We want to recognise what has been built and commit to what still needs to be achieved. It reflects our trust in Fred's leadership - a trust rooted in shared ambition, mutual expectations and clear responsibility.
"We move forward with determination and focus, united in our pursuit of the level of performance Ferrari has to aim for."
Vasseur had been angered by the speculation in the Italian media about his future - but made clear his only focus now was on continuing the job he has done.
"I'm grateful for the trust Ferrari continues to place in me," he said. "This renewal is not just a confirmation - it's a challenge to keep progressing, to stay focused, and to deliver.
"Over the past 30 months, we've laid strong foundations, and now we must build on them with consistency and determination. We know what's expected, and we're all fully committed to meeting those expectations and taking the next step forward together."
