Sainz summoned twice by F1 stewards after Miami GP

Williams driver Carlos Sainz faces two post-race stewards investigations that threaten to take away his points finish at Formula 1's Miami Grand Prix.

Sainz had a hard-fought run to ninth place at the chequered flag that included a last-lap dart to the inside of his Ferrari replacement Lewis Hamilton at the final proper braking zone of the layout - into the Turn 17 right-hander.

Hamilton turned in to the corner as normal, and the pair touched while fighting for eighth place. Hamilton still emerged ahead, with Sainz just four tenths behind him at the flag in ninth place.

Both drivers will see the stewards after the race to discuss the incident.

Sainz - along with 13th-place finisher Pierre Gasly - will also see the stewards for possible yellow flag infringements when the virtual safety car was required to recover Ollie Bearman's stricken Haas car.

The stewards will determine whether they breached Appendix H of Article 2.5.5 of the FIA's International Sporting Code - which covers failing to slow under yellow flags.

Any penalty would take some of the shine off Williams's standout weekend of 2025, in which it was F1's fourth-best team and extended its healthy points advantage over its midfield rivals.
