Belgian Grand Prix 2025 F1 grid with four pitlane starts

1 min read

Lando Norris saw off Oscar Piastri in an all-McLaren duel for Belgian Grand Prix Formula 1 pole position.

Norris's first Q3 lap was enough to beat Piastri's late effort by 0.085s.

Sprint race winner Max Verstappen (Red Bull) was left to rue a mistake early in his final lap that allowed Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to pick him off by 0.003s for third place on the grid.

Lewis Hamilton fell in Q1 after his final lap was struck off for a track limits violation.

He was due to line up 16th but has opted for a pitlane start - as have Kimi Antonelli and Fernando Alonso, both also knocked out in Q1.

Antonelli had indicated after qualifying that he would start from the pitlane.

Those pitlane starts mean Lance Stroll, who alongside Alonso had locked out the last row of the grid in what was the worst qualifying performance in Aston Martin's history, is elevated to 16th on the grid.

That's because Carlos Sainz later joined the list of drivers starting from the pitlane as Williams adjusted his car's set-up under parc ferme conditions.
