Lando Norris saw off Oscar Piastri in an all-McLaren duel for Belgian Grand Prix Formula 1 pole position.
Norris's first Q3 lap was enough to beat Piastri's late effort by 0.085s.
Sprint race winner Max Verstappen (Red Bull) was left to rue a mistake early in his final lap that allowed Ferrari's Charles Leclerc to pick him off by 0.003s for third place on the grid.
A track limits-thwarted Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) is due to start 16th, while like him Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) was also knocked out in Q1 for a second day running.
He indicated that he will start from the pitlane.
Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll recorded the worst qualifying performance in Aston Martin's history in 19th and 20th.
