Audi reveals date of first-ever F1 launch

Audi has announced the date of its first-ever Formula 1 launch, where its 2026 F1 livery will be revealed.

It will present what it is describing as its full identity - the Audi Revolut F1 Team, as the team will officially be known - at an event on January 20 in Berlin.

The launch will be followed by a public opening a day later that fans will be able to attend which, in Audi's words, will "ensure the team's entry resonates beyond the paddock".

The Berlin launch event falls six days before the first on-track running of the 2026 F1 cars, in a private, behind-closed-doors test at Barcelona from January 26-30.

That will mark Audi's first outing as an F1 team; it is joining as a works entry for the start of the new rules era that features an overhaul of both the chassis and engine regulations.

Audi previously revealed a concept livery for its F1 debut, which it called a preview of its colour scheme and the design of its first F1 car.

That included a nod to the Auto Union Type C, part of the ultra-successful run of models raced by Auto Union (which Audi was part of), on the front half of the design as well as carbon black and a new Audi red on the back half of the car.

It said at the time it aimed to have "the most striking car on the grid".

The team will be rebranded as Audi on January 1, completing its transformation from the Sauber team it has acquired.

Sauber was a distant last in the constructors' championship in 2024 but recovered well in 2025.

Though it finished only one place higher, ninth, in the standings, it was part of a tight midfield pack, had a vastly improved tally of 70 points, and scored points at 13 of the 24 rounds, including a podium with Nico Hulkenberg in the British Grand Prix.
