Bagnaia taken to medical centre after crash red flags MotoGP Qatar sprint
MotoGP's Qatar Grand Prix sprint was red-flagged shortly after the start after a bad collision involving Pecco Bagnaia.
Two-time series champion Bagnaia had been up to as high as second at the beginning of the race, but had dropped back down to fifth by the time the accident happened.
Fellow Ducati rider Fermin Aldeguer had launched an attack on KTM's Pedro Acosta behind Bagnaia at Turn 16 and ended up piling into Bagnaia's bike, sending him into a vicious highside.
Bagnaia was seemingly briefly knocked unconscious by the impact, though was apparently back to consciousness when attended to in the gravel trap.
He was stretchered away from the site of the incident and taken to the medical centre - but not before the race was red-flagged.
Aldeguer was handed a double long lap penalty for causing the collision - but has been allowed to take the restart, which is being held using original grid positions for a reduced 10-lap distance (instead of the original 11).
