The future of the AlphaTauri Formula 1 team has been put under the spotlight ahead of the new season starting, with the radical suggestion the team could be sold or moved to the UK.
It was recently reported by German publication Auto Motor und Sport, and confirmed by our sources, that the new Red Bull management post-Mateschitz was weighing up what to do with its ‘other’ team.
AlphaTauri has now claimed it will not be sold, although such public assurances are not exactly binding.
But even if its place within the Red Bull family is indeed secured, the suggestions of a relocation have not been publicly shot down.
And a relocation – which would almost certainly bring the team much, much closer to the main Red Bull outfit – is easily the most controversial path forward.
