Another Ferrari 1-2 ahead of Verstappen as Norris stops in FP2
Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton led team-mate Charles Leclerc in second practice for the 2026 Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix while McLaren's Lando Norris bowed out of the session early on.
Hamilton set the fastest time of the session with a 1m13.026s lap, 0.111s faster than Leclerc and 0.168s faster than third-placed Red Bull driver Max Verstappen.
Hamilton locked up late in the session and dived into his Ferrari pitbox - the team seemingly unaware that he was about to do so - and pointed upwards, possibly asking for an unexpected front wing angle change.
Mercedes' George Russell was fourth and Kimi Antonelli fifth - 0.379s and 0.503s off Hamilton respectively.
McLaren's was off the pace in FP1 and the second practice session started badly too, as Norris stopped in the runoff exiting the Nouvelle Chicane around 15 minutes into the session with a suspected battery issue.
Isack Hadjar, who crashed out of FP1, thanked his team for repairing the Red Bull and finished sixth - one second off the pace - ahead of the other McLaren of Oscar Piastri, who was one thousandth of a second slower than Hadjar.
Audi had another strong showing with Nico Hulkenberg just off Piastri in eighth and Gabriel Bortoleto in ninth.
Ollie Bearman rounded out the top 10 for Haas, 1.430s off the pace.
Norris aside, Cadillac and Aston Martin rounded out the standings, and it was Cadillac's Sergio Perez - the fastest of that quartet - who caused a late red flag as his smouldering front-right brake began sending smoke into the cockpit.
