Cadillac unveils major F1 hires who worked at top teams

Cadillac has revealed it has made three high-profile appointments with experience in Formula 1’s top teams.

One of them is its new chief development engineer Craig Skinner, who departed Red Bull earlier this year after 20 years with the team.

Skinner helped build Red Bull into a championship-winning force, and at Cadillac he will “provide technical direction across the development process, supporting the connection between car concept, aerodynamic design, analysis and delivery”.

He’ll report to chief technical officer Nick Chester, who was one of Cadillac’s first major signings before it had even secured an F1 entry.

Another new hire is Eric Blandin, who held senior aero roles at Ferrari and Mercedes before joining Aston Martin as deputy technical director under Dan Fallows.

But by 2025 he was out as part of an Adrian Newey-led reshuffle of the team’s technical department, with seven exits.

Blandin joins Cadillac as its new head of aerodynamics, also reporting to CTO Chester.

The third hire is Cadillac’s new chief engineer for aerodynamics modelling and simulation, Tim Lean.

Lean joins with a combined 20 years of experience working for McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari.

He will report into new aerodynamics head Blandin.

New team boss Marcin Budkowski called the hires a “vital step in the technical evolution of the team.”

“Bringing together experienced leadership across development, aerodynamics and modelling will help us create a stronger integrated technical organisation and improve performance on track. Craig, Eric and Tim bring race and championship-winning experience to Cadillac F1 in areas that are central to our long-term development.”
