Free McLaren F1 showrun announced for Athens
McLaren Racing and partner Allwyn will bring a Formula 1 showrun to Athens on October 3 as part of a new global fan event series.
The free event, called Allwyn x McLaren Racing: Live in Athens, will take place outside the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA) in Greece.
Fans will be able to see McLaren's 2025 F1 World constructors' championship-winning car in action, alongside Ayrton Senna's McLaren MP4/6. Two-time F1 world champion Mika Häkkinen will also drive during the event.
Other former F1 drivers and personalities are expected to attend - however, who it will be exactly is yet to be confirmed. Additional modern and historic McLaren cars will be displayed at the event alongside a fan zone and other entertainment activities.
Athens will be the first stop in a new series of fan events being launched by Allwyn and McLaren Racing.
"Launching this global event series in Athens is a major milestone for our partnership with McLaren Racing," said Pavel Turek, Allwyn's chief officer of global partnerships.
"Bringing more speed, thrills and excitement to this iconic sporting location is the perfect way to introduce our international event platform and entertain more fans around the world."
Allwyn Hellas chairman and CEO Jan Karas said the event would be one of the largest motorsport fan experiences ever held in Greece.
"We're expecting to welcome thousands of fans in October, which will make Allwyn x McLaren Racing: Live in Athens one of the largest motorsport fan experiences ever held in Greece," he said.
McLaren Racing chief marketing officer Louise McEwen said the event was designed to help bring the team closer to fans who are unable to attend Formula 1 races.
"Our fans are at the heart of everything we do at McLaren Racing, and while not everyone can experience a Grand Prix weekend in person, we're always looking for ways to bring the team closer to them," she said.
The event will be free to attend, with no ticket needed. Further details on appearances, experiences and event activities will be announced ahead of the October event on Allwyn and McLaren’s social media.
