F1 and Leica team up to release a £7300 camera

Formula 1 fans who love photography might want to save up for something a little more expensive than a team’s jersey this year, as F1 and Leica have teamed up to release a special edition new piece of kit.

Leica’s new camera, the Leica Q3 43 Formula 1 Edition, bridges the gap between high-end photography and motorsport-inspired designs, and you could get your hands on one from October 21.

The camera features handcrafted carbon fibre parts, a black Microvelour covering inspired by racing steering wheels, discreet red accents and official F1 branding on the top plate and lens cap. There's even a rope strap featuring both brand’s logos, because one F1 logo simply wasn't enough.

Underneath the racing-inspired exterior, the camera is based on Leica's Q3 43 model.

A huge reason as to why this collaboration seems like a natural fit is that both brands share an attention to detail and focus on precision and craftsmanship.

Whether it’s taking snapshots of life in the paddock or high-speed on-track action, this camera is designed to capture everything.

Thinking about buying one for yourself? Head to a Leica store in person or use its online shop, and be prepared to drop £7300.

Now suddenly your phone camera doesn’t sound so bad!

Although it’s not your typical piece of F1 merch, at that price you’d hope to capture some spectacular shots.
