Energy drink giant Red Bull is resuming its MotoGP partnership with the factory Honda team starting in 2027.

Red Bull was a major backer, though not the title sponsor, of the Honda team in the previous decade, but left at the end of 2023, its exit following Marc Marquez's decision to abandon Honda and the manufacturer's general decline in competitiveness.

But the promise of a competitive reset through the new 2027 regs and Pirelli tyres, and Honda's capture of star rider Fabio Quartararo, appears to have been sufficient to bring Red Bull back on board as "one of the major partners".

The deal has been announced as a multi-year agreement, with "prominent" Red Bull branding on bikes, in the garage and on rider apparel.

"It is a collaboration which makes clear, logical sense," said works team manager Alberto Puig, who will relinquish his role next season.

"I know that neither party will accept anything less than victory and that is what we must work for to once again make this combination the reference."

Red Bull will not be Honda's title partner, as that spot is occupied by Castrol and Red Bull already fulfils the role for KTM's works team anyway.

But this new deal is a substantial development for new Honda signing Quartararo, who has spent almost his entire MotoGP career as a Monster Energy athlete.

He is expected to relinquish this personal sponsorship - but the question will be whether he is brought into the Red Bull family or carries on without a personal sponsorship, like Marc Marquez ended up doing when he gave up his Red Bull deal in joining the Monster-backed Ducati factory team.

There is no such issue for Quartararo's presumed 2027 team-mate Diogo Moreira, who is already a Red Bull Athlete.
