# Miller's post-MotoGP future revealed

MotoGP veteran Jack Miller will move to the World Superbike Championship next year, joining the factory Yamaha team in place of Xavi Vierge in a two-year deal.

Miller will leave the MotoGP paddock after 15 full-time seasons of competition, 12 of which he has spent in the premier class (having moved up straight from Moto3).

In his time in MotoGP the 31-year-old won four races and claimed 23 podiums, having competed on factory deals with Honda, Ducati, KTM and now Yamaha.

He has been off the radar in MotoGP this season as a consequence of Yamaha's V4 engine being largely uncompetitive in its first season, but has had some strong weekends. These, though, mostly came after it became clear Miller would not be keeping his seat at Yamaha satellite team Pramac, with Moto2 standout [Izan Guevara picked as replacement](https://www.the-race.com/motogp/new-yamaha-motogp-signing-izan-guevara-what-you-should-know/).

A WorldSBK pivot for Miller appeared unlikely earlier this season, with a seeming dearth of obvious fits - especially if he wanted to remain in the Yamaha family.

Yamaha already had three of its four 2027 WorldSBK factory-contracted seats (across the main team and satellite team GRT) filled by virtue of two-year contracts, and new recruit Vierge - though brought in on just a one-year deal - looked to be doing more than enough to ensure continuity.

Yamaha WorldSBK chief Andrea Dosoli indicated to The Race back in April that Vierge was on track for a renewal. But while Vierge's form has hardly sagged, Yamaha has clearly deemed Miller is an upgrade.

Vierge, though, is expected to land on his feet. He told WorldSBK.com last weekend at Magny-Cours that he was certain of remaining on the grid - and is the apparent favourite for a seat at privateer Ducati team Barni.

In the current realities of World Superbike, that Barni team is much more competitive than Yamaha. It is outscoring the works Yamaha team by 168 points, and has scored 14 podiums.

No Yamaha rider has finished on the podium this year, its R1 clearly no match for the dominant Ducati Panigale right now - though there's hope for this to change during Miller's tenure, with the switch to Michelin tyres in WorldSBK in 2027 and a rebalancing of the field that will include a MotoGP-style concession system in 2028.
