Luca Marini's performance isn't likely to be completely indicative of race weekend form, with the Friday morning session something of a track-cleaning exercise for the field. The Honda's 1m30.809s lap came right at the end and put Marini 0.136 seconds of Pedro Acosta's second-placed KTM. Marco Bezzecchi had topped the early running and ended up third for Aprilia, which just has Bezzecchi and Trackhouse's Raul Fernandez in the field this weekend with [both Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura out injured](https://www.the-race.com/motogp/aprilia-reduced-mandalika-motogp-lineup-martin-ogura/). The presence of Yamaha's season-long struggler Alex Rins in fourth hinted that this might not be the best representative practice session of the season, Rins's leap up the order having come on a late lap in Alex Marquez's tow. Marc Marquez didn't seem to have too much of [a championship hangover](https://www.the-race.com/motogp/marc-marquez-title-hangover-2025-championship/) as he led most of the session, though he did amble into the edge of the Turn 1 gravel trap on his way out of the pits at one point as he focused on staying out of other riders' way.
