# Bezzecchi upsets Marquez for Aragon MotoGP pole

Marco Bezzecchi upset pre-weekend favourite Marc Marquez to claim MotoGP pole position for the Aragon Grand Prix.

Bezzecchi was the only rider setting sub-1m45s laps, so saw off Marquez by 0.089s - the latter threatening the benchmark in the final seconds but messing up the entry to Turn 14 and having to settle for second.

Alex Marquez will join the pair on the front row for the sprint and for Sunday's main event.

Raul Fernandez, points leader Jorge Martin and Pedro Acosta will complete row two. Acosta set his best lap in the elder Marquez's tow, before sliding off on entry into Reverse Corkscrew while trying to improve.

VR46 team-mates Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli ran together on track and were split by just three tenths in the end, but that also meant five positions, Di Giannantonio in seventh and Morbidelli in 12th.

Between them were Pecco Bagnaia, Johann Zarco, Diogo Moreira and Fermin Aldeguer. Bagnaia and Moreira had advanced from Q1, despite Moreira crashing late in that session.

Jack Miller, whose impending departure from Pramac Yamaha (and MotoGP as a whole) was announced earlier this week, placed 13th as the best of the Yamahas and the best-of-the-rest in Q1 - ahead of good friend and future World Superbike rival Brad Binder (KTM).

Joan Mir had a last-second shot at picking off Moreira for the final Q2 spot but came up two tenths short and settled for 15th - though did outqualify team-mate Luca Marini for the 12th time in 13 attempts this season.
