IndyCar feeder series Indy Lights is back in oval mode this weekend for the first time in two years.

The championship is resuming after its summer break with a double-header on the IndyCar bill at Gateway.

Andretti Autosport’s rising star Kyle Kirkwood’s clean sweep of the previous weekend at Mid-Ohio inched him into the points lead but he still had David Malukas and Linus Lundqvist close behind as the season heads for its deciding leg with a $1.3million IndyCar career prize on the line.

Malukas emerged on top in a very dramatic Gateway opener on Friday, while Kirkwood finished second despite contact with Lundqvist, who later crashed out.
