Former Renault and Haas F1 Esports driver Simon Weigang has joined Alfa Romeo for the 2021 F1 Esports Series.

Weigang had an underwhelming but respectable run in the 2020 Pro Series with a best result of fourth at Silverstone and finished the season 11th in the drivers’ championship.

His points tally was also instrumental to keeping Haas from ending the 2020 Pro Series last in the constructors’ championship as he single-handedly outscored Racing Point.

In 2019 he had only competed in four races while a part of Renault, and had a best result of seventh place in the final round.

Weigang takes the place of reigning series champion Jarno Opmeer, who [left Alfa Romeo to join Mercedes](https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/mercedes-signs-f1-esports-champion-opmeer-from-alfa-romeo/) earlier in the year.

That means Alfa Romeo, barring any potential move away for Daniel Bereznay, has nailed down the two drivers that it will field alongside their mandatory recruit from the Pro Draft.

Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari are the only teams so far to have confirmed two of their three drivers for the 2021 F1 Esports Pro Series.
