The Formula 1 stewards ruled that Max Verstappen was “predominantly to blame” for the collision with title rival Lewis Hamilton in the Italian Grand Prix.

The championship leader consequently has a three-place grid penalty for next weekend’s Russian GP.

Many F1 penalty decisions are clear-cut and appear obvious, but this one has certainly divided opinion – and not just down partisan fanbase lines.
