An in-season intervention by the FIA will force teams to protect their drivers from the unique traits of the new generation of Formula 1 cars that have been labelled a “recipe for disaster”.

Concerns about the porpoising and bottoming out of some F1 cars have reached a new peak with the warning that a major crash will happen sooner or later.

The FIA has acted quickly, announcing a sudden set of changes on safety grounds that will force teams to either fix their problems or alter their set-ups.
