Red Bull’s confident it’s seen enough from Daniel Ricciardo in its simulator to facilitate his Formula 1 racing return with AlphaTauri and openly consider a longer-term future for him back in its senior team.

But Ricciardo was only off the grid in the first place because of how he struggled to deal with a difficult car at McLaren.

And the 2023 AlphaTauri is not an easy car…
