Rumours that Mercedes may withdraw its works team from Formula 1 have become more common the longer its domination has lasted, and 2020 is no exception.

Fresh speculation has emerged this month that Mercedes is seeking a way out as it has no more value to gain from constantly winning, and has a willing buyer waiting in the wings.

But as this video explains, such speculation has been given short shrift from Mercedes’ powers-that-be.

And a look into the numbers behind the F1 team suggest it would be absurd to sell the greatest team in F1 history, especially as it’s about to start making money rather than requiring a modest top-up from the parent company.
