Despite being the first F1 team to launch its 2021 F1 car, McLaren went to surprising lengths to hide certain parts of its MCL35M from the public’s eye.

It used old-spec parts on the launch car, obscured a section of the render as far as to conceal the bargeboard layout on the car with a black marker when it uploaded a pitlane photo of the car on Twitter.

Our latest F1 video takes a look at the reasoning behind McLaren’s acts of concealment, and offers our reconstruction of what the hidden bargeboards it ran in the Silverstone shakedown appear to look like.

We also discuss other aspects of the car’s current pre-season spec, and what the team got up to during the shakedown.
