McLaren’s upgrade package might not have looked like much to the naked eye, but the team characterises it as its biggest of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

It made its debut on Lando Norris’s car in Singapore last weekend, and will be on Daniel Ricciardo’s too for the Japanese Grand Prix.

Technical director James Key describes it as the first step towards a new concept, and it also features some counterintuitive designs.
