The arrival of Formula 1’s new rules for 2022 means the departure of the 2017 era cars.

Designed to give F1 a massive speed increase, the wider, faster and more aerodynamically complex machines got a mixed response.

Drivers – and fans – were frustrated that the greater aero reliance plus the cars’ sheer size made it even harder to overtake.

But the spectacle of these absolute monsters tackling F1’s fastest corners was hard to dislike.
