Ferrari has one of its Formula 1 seats sorted for the long term, with Charles Leclerc having signed a bumper new deal last year to remain with the outfit through 2024.

But his team-mate Sebastian Vettel is officially out of contract this year – and though Vettel remains a reliable performer and [is publicly the Scuderia’s first priority for the other 2021 seat,](https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/vettel-ferraris-first-choice-hamilton-not-an-option-now/) Vettel’s occasionally fraught relationship with Leclerc means Ferrari would be careless to not at least evaluate other options.
