Carlos Sainz to Ferrari, Daniel Ricciardo to McLaren, Sergio Perez to Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel to Aston Martin – all of these moves look good on paper. But moving around the Formula 1 driver market is always a risk.

Sometimes it goes well – see Lewis Hamilton’s switch from McLaren to Mercedes for 2013 – and sometimes it turns into a disaster.

In this list we’ve picked out 10 drivers whose F1 careers were never the same again after a switch of teams. The reasons for the change, and subsequent failure, don’t have to be the driver’s fault, we’re simply highlighting moves that cost them career momentum.
