# Two-time F1 Esports champion Leigh swaps Mercedes for Ferrari

Two-time F1 Esports champion Brendon Leigh has signed for Ferrari’s esports team after spending three years with Mercedes.

While his 2017 title came before the teams were involved in F1 Esports, in 2018 Leigh won the drivers’ title with Mercedes and helped to deliver the constructors’ championship to the Brackley-based team alongside Daniel Bereznay.

Leigh’s departure means all four of the original members of Mercedes’ F1 Esports team are now no longer there.

By joining Ferrari he’ll be slotting in alongside its 2019 champion David Tonizza.

Leigh’s team change means he’ll move to Italy to begin training and working alongside his new team-mates at the team’s base in Maranello.

The 2020 F1 Esports Pro Series was Leigh’s worst campaign in the series yet as he went winless and finished on the podium only twice in 12 races.

However, Leigh was still the highest-scoring Mercedes driver as he accrued 61 points more than his team mate Bono Huis.

Leigh, who takes over from Tonizza’s previous team-mate Enzo Bonito, had outscored Tonizza by five points last season, with the two drivers ending the 2020 Pro Series sixth and seventh in the drivers’ championship.
