While FP3 does take place in the daytime compared to the nighttime conditions of qualifying, based on the evidence of the 60-minute session, the margins in qualifying are going to be very tight. Red Bull’s hopes of continuing its back-to-back race-winning form were boosted by Verstappen setting the fastest time of FP3, a 1m30.148s. Lando Norris looked the more comfortable McLaren driver in FP3, having lagged behind team-mate Oscar Piastri on Friday. But it was Piastri who went quickest on their final soft tyre runs, coming just 0.017s shy of Verstappen’s time, which was set earlier in the session. Piastri’s lap was just 0.032s quicker than George Russell, who claimed third for Mercedes, having lost Friday running to his “annoying” FP2 shunt. Team-mate Kimi Antonelli backed up a strong start to Saturday for Mercedes in fourth place, just 0.089s slower than Verstappen. A potential yellow flag infringement by Antonelli was 'noted' by the stewards, then quickly waved off as requiring no further investigation. Norris led the session early on but ended up fifth, setting an identical time to Antonelli. Williams driver Carlos Sainz was sixth ahead of the Racing Bulls of Isack Hadjar. The top 10 was rounded out by Nico Hulkenberg’s Sauber - not in the top 10 in qualifying all season - and Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari.
