We delve into the big question of Formula 1’s 2023 driver market in the latest edition of The Race F1 Podcast – Daniel Ricciardo’s McLaren future.

With Ricciardo issuing a statement that he is fully committed to McLaren for 2023 – and under contract – Scott Mitchell and Ben Anderson join Edd Straw to explain why there might be any doubt about that.

As well as delving into details of Ricciardo’s contractual situation and struggles, we also look at the potential alternatives should McLaren and Ricciardo part company.

Those include Colton Herta, who had his first F1 test in a 2021 McLaren last week and new McLaren IndyCar signing (although Ganassi disputes this) Alex Palou. But could Alpine’s Oscar Piastri and Williams driver Alex Albon come into the equation?

We also discuss F1’s 2023 rule changes and plans to change the primary roll structure regulations after Zhou Guanyu’s Silverstone crash.
