# Norris sets up racing team with ex-Prema chief

Lando Norris has co-founded a new racing team – LN4 Fusion – and launched a driver development programme as part of a two-pronged effort to help young driving talent on the way towards Formula 1.

LN4 Fusion, which has pulled together a host of top-class talent from motorsport including the highly-respected Rene Rosin as its team principal, is to compete in the Italian F4 championship, the FIA Formula Regional European Championship and F3 next season.

It has sights set on joining F2, and has already begun a British F4 testing programme as it aims to secure an entry to that category.

As well as the racing team, Norris has also launched the LN4 Legacy Programme. This is a fully funded young driver scheme, which will be led by former Alpine sporting director Julian Rouse.

Speaking about the decision to commit to both projects, Norris said that he wanted to “create opportunities for the next generation, both on and off the track, and hopefully make a real difference to young drivers coming through the sport”.

With his own path to F1 being helped by backing from his family and then the support of McLaren, Norris is well aware that being fast is not all that is needed to succeed.

“I’ve been really lucky to have some amazing people around me throughout my career, and I know that getting to Formula 1 takes so much more than just talent,” he said.

“You need the right people around you, the right support and the right opportunities at the right time. That’s what these two projects are all about.

“LN4 Fusion is about building a race team that can compete with the best in junior motorsport, with great people and a great environment for drivers to develop. The LN4 Legacy Programme is about helping talented young drivers get opportunities they might not otherwise have.”

LN4 Fusion has the backing of an investment group that is led by Dan Richards, and has acquired selected assets from the AIX Racing operation, which has a licence to race in F3 until the end of 2027\. It has also begun the application process to join F2.

Rosin’s signing is a coup as the Italian, who has won more than 40 junior championships at various levels, has been pondering his next steps following his surprise exit from Prema earlier this year. Another long-time Prema figure, engineer Guillaume Capietto, has also joined LN4 Fusion.

The team's European headquarters will be in Veneto in northern Italy where a new facility is being built. There will also be a British operation based in Cambridgeshire, that will be run by Dan Hazlewood, who has led the successful Fusion Motorsport karting team to multiple national and international titles in recent years.

Richards, who is CEO of LN4 Fusion, believed that getting a roster of world-class talent on board was critical to making a success of the operation.

"It has taken an enormous collective effort to bring the different elements together, but the objective from the beginning has been to build this properly and for the long term,” he said.

Norris’s plans have received the backing of F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, who says his involvement will help further cement the strength of F1's support series.

“Seeing Lando Norris involved in this new project is an incredible statement on how much the pyramid of Formula 3 and Formula 2 is crucial to the future of Formula 1,” he said.

“Through Lando’s investment and experience, we can build a future, with new drivers, engineers, mechanics, and a tradition that will be followed by motorsport lovers.”
