# Mercedes fined for post-Spanish GP breach

The Mercedes Formula 1 team has been handed a €10,000 fine for breaching parc ferme after the Spanish Grand Prix.

Mercedes’ team representative and the physiotherapists for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were summoned to the stewards, accused of failing to comply with the FIA’s post-race procedures instructions.

Nobody is allowed in the designated area once the cars are in the parc ferme except for team mechanics, officials and FIA pre-approved TV crews and photographers.

Driver physios are specifically instructed to “wait outside the cool down room behind the podium until the podium ceremony has concluded”.

The stewards’ verdict said the stewards “received a report from the media delegate, which was subsequently confirmed by video evidence, that the physios/drivers’ assistants of Cars 44 \[Hamilton\] and 63 \[Russell\] entered parc ferme in violation of the post-race interview and podium ceremony procedure that was published prior to the race “for the orderly conduct of the event”.

Hamilton and Russell finished second and third at Barcelona but their results were never at risk because of this breach.

[Last year the top three finishers at the Austrian Grand Prix all received summons](https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/all-three-austrian-gp-podium-finishers-handed-suspended-fines/) for the same offence, with suspended €10,000 fines issued.

Mercedes was one of the teams in question which likely resulted in the issuing of this fine, rather than another suspended fine.
