# Haas places most of its UK-based F1 staff on furlough

The Haas Formula 1 team has become the fifth outfit in grand prix racing to confirm it has placed staff on furlough amid the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Haas joins McLaren, Williams, Racing Point, Renault [and the F1 organisation itself](https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/f1-furloughs-half-its-staff-and-cuts-bosses-pay/) in having applied for the United Kingdom’s job retention scheme.

The team has confirmed a “majority” of its staff in its UK base in Banbury, Oxfordshire has been placed on furlough, which means they will guaranteed the lower of 80% of their salary or £2500 per month.

No action has been communicated regarding the team’s Italy- and United States-based staff and partners.

The outfit has also confirmed a number of senior staffers have kept working on reduced salaries.

The team’s F1 race drivers, Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, were previously reported to have volunteered for pay cuts.

The Race understands that a reduction of salary has been agreed for the pair, although the exact details are yet to be determined.

This latest news regarding Haas’ UK staff means Red Bull and Mercedes are the only two among F1’s seven British-based outfits yet to announce furlough measures for their personnel.
