# Podcast: Why GM-Cadillac's finally been given F1 green light

Having regularly tackled the topic over the past 18 months, the Race F1 Podcast had to convene a recording at short notice to discuss the news that Formula 1 has agreed GM/Cadillac will become the 11th team.

Scott Mitchell-Malm joins Edd Straw to explain all - including how, after a lengthy resistance, the new team has finally been given the go-ahead it needs.

The role of Andretti Global, in particular Michael Andretti, is tackled, as is the plan for GM to produce its own engine - but not before 2028 at the earliest.

We also speculate on who might drive for the team, including names from outside of F1, those without a drive, and one option who should be considered who's driving for another team next year.
