Valtteri Bottas [will race for Alfa Romeo in Formula 1 next year,](https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/bottas-signs-multi-year-f1-deal-with-alfa-romeo/) but was Williams a better choice and will his post-Mercedes career be a success?

Those are among the questions Gary Anderson and Edd Straw tackle in a bonus episode of The Race F1 Podcast.

There’s a discussion about whether having long-term stability will bring out the best in Bottas, as well as a look at what a driver of his experience can bring to a struggling team.

And with George Russell set to be confirmed as his replacement, we also look at whether Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was right to let Bottas go.
