- Description: Williams was a major player in the 1980s and 1990s but it somehow went two decades between Monaco GP wins. The latest episode of our Bring Back V10s classic F1 stories podcast looks at the end of that unwanted run and how victory nearly got away

For all of Williams's high points in Formula 1 in the 1980s and 1990s, it somehow managed to go two decades without a Monaco Grand Prix win - a run it surpassed last season - until Juan Pablo Montoya broke that barren spell in 2003.

But his route to victory was far from straightforward and an issue with his ailing BMW engine in the principality, plus rumblings of a hold-up in extending the Williams-BMW deal, are delved into in this week's episode of our Bring Back V10s classic F1 stories podcast.

There's plenty of V10 engine talk too as this was the weekend Renault announced it was ditching its radical engine design for the following season, while there was also a first look at the distinctive McLaren MP4-18 that ultimately never raced.

Karun Chandhok and Ben Anderson join Glenn Freeman to look back at the first Monaco GP weekend to feature a reprofiled final sector, the huge accident exiting the tunnel that meant Jenson Button missed the race, and a rare case of Ferrari getting caught out.
